Have you ever been betrayed by a close associate or back-stabbed by someone you trusted? Especially if you are CEO of your company, you know that having the right team of people on your side— will either make or break your success.

Greg Glassman, CEO of Crossfit just lost $20 million to his ex-wife. He almost lost half of his 51% which means control of his company. If you’re CEO of a company, you’re going to have to face this, because someone might be loyal to you for 5 years, but on the 6th year, they decide to take advantage of all that good will and siphon your funds.

So you have to able to spot this, early on. That’s what I’m going to show you in this video.

  •  First of all, this is you.
  • This is your vision.
  • That’s where all your success is. Fulfilling this vision.
  • The closer and closer you get to fulfilling your vision, your chances of people whom you trust betraying you—- is going to get higher and higher. The closer you are to success, the more likely you are going to be betrayed.
  • Why is that? Because sometimes people are supporting you for the wrong reasons. And soon as they figure out that your success means that they aren’t going to get what they want out of the situation, they backstab you.4.-closer-and-closer5-wrong-reasons 6.-wrong-reasons 77

Either you have to:

  • #1.  Know their true reasons for supporting you.
  • #2. Or you have to watch diligently and anytime anyone does anything out of alignment along the way, you kick them to the curb. You just fire them.

Path #2 is really high maintenance and very expensive. That’s why companies develop bureaucracy to keep everyone in line, The biggest trap that CEO’s of growing companies fall into is believing that those who work for free believe in their vision. Sometimes you need to save money, you can’t invest in talent so you rely on your spouse or parent to fill in when you overloaded with work. But those people who work for free are not committed to your vision. They are committed to THEIR vision.

If they were truly committed to your vision, they would realize you’re in need, you can’t afford to pay them—- they would leave you, come back later with resources such as investors or talented business consultants and ask— NOT GIVE —- you to partner up with them, in order to move your company forward. If you’re looking for a hand-out, that person who is truly loyal to you knows that you’re not truly committed to your vision. They are more committed to your vision, than you are. If you’re looking to do the real work that leads to real success, you’d be willing to partner with someone who can take you there.

  •  Someone who lifts you up, when you’re down, is loyal to your vision.
  • Someone who stays down with you when you’re down—- is not loyal to your vision, they are loyal to you. They’re not going to save you. They’re waiting for you to save them.

You think this is loyalty. It’s the type of loyalty that will block you from being successful. I’ll tell you why, right now. They’re like pets or dogs. They have unconditional love for you. They just want to be with you, for richer or poorer. So think of your dog. If you are poor and smoke weed and sit on the couch and go to the beach—- your dog is in HEAVEN. Your dog loves you. You’re spending boo-coo time with him. But as soon as you become successful, you’re going to board meetings, you’re traveling around the world for conferences and you don’t have time to spend with your dog, your dog is in a living HELL. And your dog will do anything, chew up your couch, vomit all over the carpet, pretend he’s sick— anything to keep you from leaving him or abandoning him for the sake of your success. Because your dog loves you— not your success.

You want people on your team who love your success. Not people who love you.

I, as your business coach— I promise not to love you as much as I love your vision and stay committed to your vision, not stay committed to you. I will you tell you the truth, even when I know you don’t want to hear it— because your success, not your ego or your pride—- your vision, is my top priority. And fulfilling that vision, is our #1 goal.

As soon as you’re down, I would go hunt—- for resources to bring you back up. I would never stay down in the hole with you and wait for someone else to come save us both. I’m not that type of coach. If you want that type of coach, don’t call me. I’m here uplift you, not tolerate your failure. And… I would never tolerate anyone who would backstab or betray you on your team. And I’m going to be honest with you if I see that happening.vision

Here’s a prime example of that. Pacific Growth Equities in San Diego was losing $52 million dollars for 24 months straight. Nothing and no one could stop the bleeding. The CEO , Chris LA Fornara came to me. I showed him how to spot who was loyal and who wasn’t. Less than 3 months later, they posted a $8.2 million profit.

Another example, I was coaching a branch office at a national lender, and helped a business leader spot who was loyal and who was wasting her resources. That office made more money in 2 months than in the past 2 years combined and then they went on to double their income for that year. This year, they’re looking to quadruple it.

If you’re a business leader and you need to be able to:

  • see around blind corners
  • realize where your blind spots are
  • know what the other party is thinking, the day before a meeting— so that when you walk in, you can overcome all of their objections,

Then, contact me for executive and leadership coaching. We’ll talk for an hour or so and I’ll give you a game plan, so that whether or not you choose to hire me— you have insight to ensure your next steps are successful.
