Are you talented and gifted at what you do—- but you still can’t earn a living doing it? For example, someone just like you wrote to me, “Here I am. I know I am gifted. I know I have what it takes to be successful. But… so what? I can’t earn a living do this.” Do you ask yourself why God give you this great talent, if you’re not going to make it and become a big success? In this video, I’m going to show you how and why you can earn a living utilizing your talent and your gift.
First off, talent is 10% of what it takes to “make it.” The other 90% is hard work. The reason for this is… that hard work builds character. The more talented or gifted you are, the bigger it is…. compared to you.
Did you see the video clips of Brittany Spears shaving her head and bashing in a windshield at a gas station late at night? She was so fed up with all the fame and the papparazi— that her talent was holding her personal life hostage. That’s what happens when the size of your talent exceeds the size of you, as a person. So hard work makes you bigger and stronger and more powerful than the gift or talent that God gave you. Then, you can use that talent or that gift in a productive and positive way.
No one knows that better than a good friend of mine— Chanelle Haynes, a triple platinum gospel singer who’s manager was Beyonce’s father. Another client of mine, Redline Entertainment also knows this. That’s how they were able to sign and help develop country music superstars. They use this same formula I’m going to give you, today.
1. First off, you can’t judge your success by how much money you’re making. Because sometimes, the first step on the mountain to success is the most important. JK Rowling, author of Harry Potter, said that her greatest moment was when she received $2,500 pounds (less than $4,000 US dollars) for her first manuscript— not when she making hundreds of millions of dollars.
2. Secondly, it’s the profundity of a single act that shows you the power of your talent or gift— it’s not scale of your reach or impact. What I mean by that is…. When Jesus helped 1 soul, it felt to him like he was helping all of humanity. And soon, humanity came to him in droves.
How did Jesus do it?
The trick is in the question.
- He did not do it.
- God did it.
- Or the world who needed a savior did it.
God or Source or the Universe or Human Consciousness— whatever you call it, worked through the vehicle of Jesus’s hands to create a phenomena that millions of people gravitate to.
Lady Gaga isn’t singing songs SHE likes to sing. For all we know, she prefers folks music— not pop. Elvis liked to sing spirituals, he didn’t want to sing rock n’ roll. But here’s the thing, they don’t sing for themselves. They sing for the world.
You have a gift.
It does nothing if you serve yourself.
It does everything if you serve others.
So here’s how that works:
- Someone comes to you with a desire.
- “I have this feeling. I can’t describe.”
- Lady Gaga says, “I have a voice. Let me sing what you feel.” (Rah Rah rupma rum!)
- “Is that it?”
- “Oh yes, but you can please sing it raunchy, louder and wear a meat dress?”
- “Sure!”
- 5 Grammies.
Your talent is a response to a demand. You have to think of yourself as the supply and humanity as the demand. If you respond to humanity in a way that meets their specific demands—- then God can use you. God can use you… to change the world.
And thats how you can:
- Sing one song and make it go viral (Rebecca Black)
- Heal one person and end up having a TV show (Long Island Medium)
- Think of one product and end up a billionaire (Mark Zuckerberg)
